Youth Recreation Scholarship

The City of Fontana Housing Department is offering scholarships to children of eligible low and moderate-income families living within City boundaries. Eligible activities must have a course identification number in the Fontana Activity Brochure. Outside sports organizations, tournaments, and private/semi-private swim lessons not eligible.

Scholarships will be a maximum of $500 for each child (under 18 years old) in a family, per year that they are approved.

Applicants are qualified from July to June each fiscal year. Scholarship approval does not guarantee enrollment into programs or activities selected. Funds must be used by June 30th of every year.

Once approved, class or activity registration must be done through the Community Service Department.

To Qualify:

Applicant must live within the City boundaries. To verify that you live within City boundaries, please search for your address on the City's map.
Applicant must meet the annual household gross income established by HUD for the program. Household income includes all income from all persons over the 18 years of age living with the family.
Income documentation will be required for all adults (18+) that live in the home, regardless of their financial contribution to the household.

Application:

Applicants can download the application using links below. The application package, including required documents listed on page 3 of application, can be submitted in person or by mail to the Housing Department. Applications will not be accepted by email.

Application review timing will vary depending on completeness of application and required documentation submitted. Applications will be reviewed and processed on a First-Come, First-Served basis. If an application is incomplete at the time of review, the applicant will be given 14 calendar days to submit missing paperwork.

Senior Recreation Scholarship

Senior 62 and older can receive $500 per person, per year for recreation activities through the Fontana Senior Center. These funds can be used for any senior center membership fees, any course in the Fontana Activity Brochure with a course ID number. Outside sports organizations, tournaments, and private/semi-private swim lessons not eligible.

How to Apply:

Applicants can download the Senior Scholarship Application, complete and return with proof of address and age to the Fontana Community Senior Center. Paper applications can also be picked up at the Senior Center. For assistance or more information, please visit or call:
