Police Chief
Chief Michael Dorsey is a graduate of Redlands High School and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from California Coast University. Michael holds a Management Certificate from the Commission of Police Officer Standards and Training.
In 1987, Chief Dorsey joined the Redlands Police Department as an Explorer. He got hired as a Parking Enforcement Officer and was sworn in as a full-time police Officer in 1993. During his time at the Redlands Police Department, Chief Dorsey worked Patrol, Gangs, and SWAT.
Chief Dorsey joined the Fontana Police Department in 1997. During his career he worked a variety of patrol, supervisory, and command positions which include Patrol, Field Training Officer (FTO), SWAT, Narcotics, Auto-Theft Detective, Internal Affairs, Traffic, Animal Services, and Code Enforcement. As a Captain, Chief Dorsey commanded the Field Services Division, Special Operations Division, and Administrative Division.
Chief Dorsey is an avid hunter and enjoys outdoor activities. He enjoys spending his summer visiting his second home in Arizona and boating with his family.
In March of 2023, Chief Dorsey was honored to be selected to serve as the 11th Police Chief for the City of Fontana.
