Fontana Community Foundation

Overview

The Fontana Community Foundation serves as the philanthropic arm of the City of Fontana, providing financial support for public services that enhance the quality of life and preserve and promote the health, welfare and education of those in Fontana and surrounding communities.

On November 15, 2005, the Fontana City Council adopted Bylaws establishing the Fontana Community Foundation (FCF), a California non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. This foundation is a non-profit public benefit corporation, organized under Nonprofit Benefit Corporation Law for public purpose.

The Fontana Community Foundation was established for the purpose of aiding and assisting in the implementation, improvement, and maintenance of public services that preserve and promote the health, welfare, and education of local citizens. Current activity in this fund reflects grant application efforts. Expenditures remain the same; revenues increased slightly.

The purpose of the Fontana Community Foundation includes:

  • To lessen the bourdon of government by aiding and assisting in the implementation, improvement, and maintenance of public services, that preserve and promote the health and welfare, and education of local citizenry of the City of Fontana
  • To form unincorporated divisions responsible for the furtherance of one or more such public services as deemed appropriate
  • To receive, invest and utilize funds and properties acquired through the solicitation of contributions, donations, grants, gifts, bequests

The Fontana Community Foundation is currently still in formation, the current by-law can be found here

The By-Laws established that the Mayor and the City Council would serve as Directors for the Foundation. Each year, the City Council elects a Foundation Chairperson from among its members. The remaining Council members serve as Foundation Board Directors. The Fontana Community Foundation's meetings coincide with City Council meetings. The Board of Directors for the Foundation also appointed specific officers to conduct the day-to-day business of the Foundation. Those officers included the positions of President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary.

New Donation Opportunities to Help Move Fontana Forward

9/11 Memorial (PDF)

The envisioned Fontana 9/11 Memorial would stand as a heartfelt tribute to the remarkable first responders who selflessly gave their lives during the tragic events of September 11th. By incorporating an authentic piece of the World Trade Center's structure into the memorial's design, we aim to create a poignant connection with the past while honoring the bravery and sacrifice of those heroes.

This memorial not only pays homage to the courageous individuals who lost their lives, but it also serves as a symbol of hope and resilience. By immortalizing a fragment of the World Trade Center, we are reminded of the strength of the human spirit and our collective ability to rise above adversity.

The actual steal beam which was recovered from the World Trade Center offers a deeply personal touch to the memorial. This enables us to pay special tribute to the exact moment when both civilians and first responders faced unimaginable challenges. Through this commemoration, we strive to ensure that their memories live on, serving as a source of inspiration for generations to come.

The Fontana 9/11 Memorial invites visitors to reflect, remember, and find solace in the midst of tragedy. It stands as a beacon of unity and resilience, reminding us that even in the face of darkness, our shared humanity can bring forth light and hope for a better tomorrow.
