Revitalization
The Fontana Housing Authority was proud to see the Village at Sierra (Phase l) completed and opened in early 2003. Since then, the senior housing facilities have started a domino effect of interest and revitalization in the surrounding area.
Located at Ceres and Sierra Avenues, the Fountains and the Gardens are a continuation of the City of Fontana’s commitment to providing affordable senior housing. The close proximity to existing retail, medical facilities, and the City’s transportation center - which includes a Metrolink and and bus station - were all important factors in the decision to locate the senior housing complexes in the downtown area. Doing so has proven to be an effective tool for the revitalization of Downtown Fontana.
Partnerships
Partnerships between the City and business owners in the downtown have developed and the community is working together to make downtown a destination in Fontana. These projects have not only changed the lives of the senior residents that call them home, but have changed the character of Fontana’s Downtown.
Complexes & Facilities
The overall design concept of the Fountains and Gardens senior housing complexes has an architectural design similar to the original design model of the community, envisioned by the founder of Fontana - A.B. Miller. The projects are built in a Spanish Mission style that blends in beautifully with other downtown buildings. The three-story, 93-unit, security-gated facilities each include 75 one-bedroom units and 18 two-bedroom units. The developments include pool and spa facilities, along with over 5,300 square feet of community and recreation areas, including a fitness center, pool tables, a computer / media room, and a library.
As proposed, the facilities are affordable to very low-income senior citizens (with income levels at or below 50% of median income).
